Need a unique, hands-free solution for safely carrying your gear that’s as versatile as your Jeep and can withstand the rigors of off-roading? We came across the U KOALA bag and have been testing it non-stop — through multiple wheeling trips as well as everyday carry use. The name isn’t just a coincidence, the design is based on the idea of a koa-la’s pouch and we’ve found it to be highly adaptable. With six different attachment points, one belt loop, and three adjust-able straps, you can customize it to fit perfectly in a number of con-figurations — hip bag, backpack, messenger bag, over-the shoulder, and more. One of the only issues is figuring out which combination of straps and attachments to use. The design hugs right to you in any configuration so you can go about your fun with free hands and no worries about your valuables. We found that the main pouch was perfect for holding the essen-tials — an iPad mini, Kindle, and wallet fit with a bit of space to spare. The upper outside pocket is perfect for a smartphone and sports a pass-thru so you can feed your earphone cable to your phone with-out snagging them in the zipper. The lower outside pocket is just right for a pocket pack of tissues and a granola bar. And finally, our favorite: the main flap’s zipper pocket allows quick-draw action for your small essentials like lip balm and keys. While this bag is pricey, the cost is justified in the quality of con-struction for those looking to buy something that will last. The du-rable cotton canvas and metal loops are well constructed, there’s no missed stitching, frays or loose threads here. In fact, our only criti-cism is that you may never “need” a replacement.
